Position: Executive Director
Location: Malamulele Onward Therapy and Training Centre, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week, excluding lunch breaks)
Reporting to: Board of Directors
Are you a dynamic leader passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with moderate to severe disabilities? Malamulele Onward is seeking an Executive Director to join our dedicated team in Johannesburg.
About Malamulele Onward:
Malamulele Onward is committed to improving the lives of rural children with disabilities, particularly those with Cerebral Palsy, and their families. We provide specialized therapy and training services, ensuring every child can achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Develop and implement long-range strategies to achieve the organization’s mission.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors and staff to develop and execute organizational and financial plans.
- Ensure programmatic excellence, rigorous evaluation, and consistent quality in finance, administration, fundraising, and communications.
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments in the field of childhood disability.
- Engage and energize staff, volunteers, board members, partners, and funders.
- Support and develop a strong board of directors and senior management team.
- Track and evaluate program components to communicate successes effectively.
Budget, Finances, and Fundraising:
- Develop and maintain sound financial practices.
- Prepare and manage budgets in collaboration with staff and the board.
- Ensure adequate funding to support organizational operations.
- Expand local revenue-generating and fundraising activities.
- Enhance communications to strengthen the organization's brand.
Planning and New Business:
- Lead the strategic business planning process for program expansion into new markets.
- Build partnerships with funders, political, and community leaders.
- Act as a local and national presence to communicate program results and successes.
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 10 years of senior management experience.
- Proven leadership and coaching experience, with a track record of scaling performance- and outcomes-based organizations.
- Massive experience in fundraising, project management, reporting and financial management.
Desirable:
- Experience in adult-based training/education.
- Experience with childhood disability issues.
- Experience working in diverse cultures and settings.
Personal Qualities and Skills:
Essential:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
Desirable:
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
